Chapter 37 Another Disciple
by RainBowLizardAfter obtaining the bodyguard’s contact information, Chi Yansheng bid farewell to Zhu Jun, reluctant to leave, then took his luggage, went downstairs, met up with his assistant, and headed to the airport.
Upstairs, the caregiver had gone grocery shopping, and with a bodyguard now staying there, she needed to prepare an extra portion of food.
“Young Master, I’ve brought it back.” Wang Tan was the bodyguard Chi Yansheng had hired, but he was actually one of Zhu Jun’s men.
As soon as the caregiver left, he took something out of his suitcase and presented it to Zhu Jun with both hands.
It was a slender sword.
The scabbard was exquisite, intricately carved and inlaid with unfamiliar gems. The blade was exceptional; simply holding it, Wang Tan could sense its extraordinary nature.
This was the sword confiscated from Chi Yansheng by the police.
Zhu Jun held it, his fingers tracing its surface. The sword felt strange, its touch evoking images of bloodshed, a disturbing sensation.
Zhu Jun quickly put it down. “Put it in the vault, don’t let him know about this for now.”
“Yes, Young Master.” Wang Tan took back the sword and poured Zhu Jun a glass of water.
“Any news from Zhu Wei?” The men that night were sent by Zhu Wei, his second uncle, his only living relative, yet wanting him dead.
“After the incident a year ago, he was busy taking control of the Zhu Corporation, and with our interference, he didn’t investigate thoroughly. After gaining full control, he learned that Young Master hadn’t died, only injured his eyes, and has been searching for you since. Recently, through a photo of you and Mr. Chi at the cinema, he tracked you down.” As soon as he found him, he sent men to “invite” him.
If not for Chi Yansheng, Zhu Jun would have had to face Zhu Wei.
Although even if he went, he could return safely.
Being protected felt incredibly good, but he couldn’t bear the thought of Chi Yansheng being in danger.
“Did they discover Yansheng’s identity?”
“Mr. Chi was wearing a mask that night; they didn’t recognize him. I’ve erased the police records; they haven’t connected it to him yet.”
“Mm.” Zhu Jun took a sip of water, thinking of Chi Yansheng risking himself for him, and his own precarious situation in the entertainment industry with his scandalous reputation. If Zhu Wei found out, his beloved would be in even greater danger. “Increase security, protect him. I won’t tolerate any negative news about him in the entertainment industry.”
“Yes, Young Master, I’ll arrange it immediately.” Wang Tan relayed Zhu Jun’s orders to their security team, then asked, “Young Master, the appointment with the doctor is scheduled, are you going today?”
“Let’s go.” Zhu Jun stood up, and Wang Tan led him out.
If his life was still peaceful, he probably wouldn’t have seen the doctor so soon. Chi Yansheng had already arranged his schedule and vacation time around the appointment; he wanted Chi Yansheng to be with him.
However, with Zhu Wei’s reach extending towards them, remaining blind would only be a burden to Chi Yansheng.
So, he had to regain his sight as soon as possible.
Chi Yansheng, unaware of what was happening at home, arrived at the airport with his assistant. He didn’t encounter any of the other guests this time, but, surprisingly, he had fans now.
Although not many, it still warmed his heart and felt slightly surreal.
They held up his photos, called out his name, their eyes shining with excitement, yet keeping a respectful distance.
Seeing there weren’t many people, and the airport wasn’t crowded, Chi Yansheng walked over to greet them, then saw a familiar face. “What are you doing here? Don’t you have work?”
“Who needs a job that keeps you working until midnight when you have money?” It was the girl from that night, her eyes shining with excitement. “I’ve created a super topic for you, and a fan club. I told you I’d be your biggest fan! You’re so cool, so kind and gentle, and so reliable and skilled in a crisis. It’s my honor to be your fan.”
She had initially thought the two million yuan offer was just talk; who would be so lucky? The money had stunned her, and she was overjoyed that night, then thought she must be dreaming; who would be so generous these days?
However, the next day, someone actually contacted her, gave her a card, and it contained two million yuan.
She immediately quit her job and set up the super topic and fan club.
She would be Chi Yansheng’s most devoted fan.
Time was short, so there weren’t many fans at the airport, but it didn’t matter, their numbers would grow. Chi Yansheng was such a good person; his popularity would explode sooner or later.
The spark was already there; it would soon ignite into a wildfire, spreading across the sky.
“Thank you, and thank you all. My flight is about to board, I have to go now. Be safe on your way back.” Chi Yansheng smiled and bid farewell, leaving with his assistant.
The fans waved excitedly, their screams erupting only after Chi Yansheng was out of sight.
“Ahhh~ He’s so gentle! Who said he was bad-tempered? It made me too scared to talk to him.”
“Exactly! His smile is so beautiful! Seeing him makes all my worries disappear.”
“You weren’t scared to talk to him, you were clearly mesmerized by his beauty, girl, wipe your drool.”
“There are all sorts of rumors online. I was just a passerby, became a fan after watching Battle On. I really thought he’d be bad-tempered, or at least difficult to approach, but he’s so approachable.”
“Approachable yet distant, such a strange feeling.”
“By the way, Boss, have you met him privately before? How did Chi Chi know about your job?”
The attention finally shifted to the girl, who proudly lifted her chin, her expression smug. “I met him by chance. Chi Chi is very gentle, very capable, and very responsible. I became a fan instantly. You’ll all see how wonderful he is, just wait.”
Having promised to keep their secret, she wouldn’t break her word.
The others gasped, their faces filled with excitement.
This episode’s filming location was a modern setting, the military.
Of course, not a real military base, but they had invited a few soldiers to participate and found suitable buildings in a specific area, combined with sets built by the production team.
This time, they were filming in another province, in a bustling city center, more convenient than the previous two locations.
Each guest had a separate hotel room. Chi Yansheng wasn’t the first to arrive; Wu Yizhou was already there.
After being escorted to his room by a staff member and unpacking, Chi Yansheng heard a knock on the door.
It was Wu Yizhou.
Opening the door, he saw Wu Yizhou’s handsome face, his expression pitiful and his eyes filled with resentment.
Chi Yansheng blinked, confused by his resentment. “What’s wrong? Is there something you need?”
“Why did you accept them as your disciples but not me? I gave you the most money that day.” The three of them had transferred money to Chi Yansheng that day, and the other two were now his disciples, but not him.
He was unhappy and unconvinced.
“Consider that money a loan. I didn’t accept them as my disciples because of that. I’ll return the money to you as soon as I receive my appearance fee.” Chi Yansheng sighed and explained.
He wasn’t sure how to teach his two disciples and really didn’t want to take on any more.
Wu Yizhou, however, persisted. “I don’t care, I don’t want your money, I just want you to accept me as your disciple. Please, take me as your disciple, okay?”
A man taller than him, with a handsome face, acting coquettishly, Chi Yansheng didn’t know how to respond.
After filming wrapped, he had to accompany Zhu Jun to see the eye specialist and teach Xu Tong martial arts before his filming started. Even Chen Xu had to wait; he really didn’t have time for Wu Yizhou.
“I can just learn from the side while you’re teaching them. It won’t take up too much of Master’s time. I’m a quick learner, even faster than them. Please, take me as your disciple. I’m sincere, if you don’t accept me, I’ll just stay here and refuse to leave.” Wu Yizhou boldly blocked the doorway, refusing to budge, clearly intending to be as stubborn as possible.
Chi Yansheng had seen all kinds of disciples.
But having accepted the other two, not accepting Wu Yizhou did seem unfair.
Chi Yansheng hesitated, seeing Wu Yizhou’s pitiful expression, his heart softening, about to agree.
Just then, Xu Tong’s voice boomed from the distance. “What are you doing lurking outside my master’s door? Up to no good?!”
Xu Tong rushed over and grabbed Wu Yizhou by the collar, dragging him away.
Wu Yizhou was quick-witted. Chi Yansheng was about to agree, but Xu Tong’s interruption made him swallow his words, his anger exploding as he lashed out at Xu Tong. “What do you mean ‘your master’? He’s about to be my master too! Why are you interfering?!”
“Bullshit! My master would never accept a stupid disciple like you.” The two grown men started fighting in the hotel corridor, evenly matched.
Chi Yansheng didn’t stop them, wanting to observe their martial arts skills to better understand how to teach them.
“Master was about to agree if you hadn’t come!” The thought infuriated Wu Yizhou, his punches becoming heavier.
“Master? Really?” Xu Tong asked, and Chi Yansheng nodded calmly.
He was annoyed.
Why were there so many people wanting to become his disciple? Fortunately, he had secured the eldest disciple position. “Even so, I’m still your eldest senior brother, so I have the right to discipline you.”
Wu Yizhou, ecstatic at Chi Yansheng’s nod, grinned. “Besides my parents and Master, no one can discipline me! What are you?!”
“I’m disciplining you, so what?”
They fought for over twenty minutes, neither yielding, and Chi Yansheng had memorized their moves.
“Alright, stop fighting, come inside, I have something for you.” Chi Yansheng led the way, and Xu Tong and Wu Yizhou, still glaring at each other, followed, jostling and bumping into each other.
A light green jade flute materialized in Chi Yansheng’s hand, over a meter long, clearly an extraordinary item. “I’ve seen your profiles. You’re an actor, and you’re a singer. This flute is for you. It can be a musical instrument, or a weapon. Although it’s made of jade, it’s indestructible. Try it, if you don’t believe me.”
Xu Tong, stunned, took the flute. It felt warm and smooth in his hand. Despite Chi Yansheng’s words, he couldn’t bear to test its strength, handling it with utmost care. “Thank you, Master, I love you!”
He then gave Chi Yansheng a tight hug.
Chi Yansheng was slightly taken aback but didn’t think too much about it. Wu Yizhou, however, rolled his eyes at Xu Tong’s fawning behavior.
